Introduction

Dr. Khubaib Amjad Alam joined National University of Computer & Emerging Sciences (FAST-NUCES) as an Assistant Professor in 2018. Prior to that, he received his PhD from Department of Software Engineering, FCSIT, University of Malaya, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia under the prestigious Bright Spark Fellowship. He received his master’s degree in Computer science from the Comsats Institute of Information Technology, Wah Cantt, Pakistan, in 2013. He has authored several articles in high impact journals and reputed conferences, including Information Systems, IET Software, Mathematics, Energy, MTAP, IEEE Access, ECM, CloudCom, FLINS, SoMeT, ANT, and IEEE FUZZ, to name a few. He has established the FAST-SEOR (Software Engineering & Operations Research) research group that serves as a platform to foster multifaceted R&D activity in Software Engineering, Operations research and Information sciences domains. FAST-SEOR has recently emerged as one of the most dynamic and productive research groups of FAST-NUCES. Till now, 12 MS theses have successfully been completed with 4 distinctions and 3 best paper awards. Most of the research activity under this platform seeks convergence of Software Engineering and Operations research & Ai dimensions. In context of SE, a peculiar focus is on Evidence-based software engineering (EBSE), Automated Software Engineering (ASE), Requirements Engineering (RE), Maintenance & evolution, Service-oriented Software Engineering (SOSE) and Search-based Software Engineering (SBSE). In context of Operations Research & AI, FAST-SEOR has an application-oriented focus. More specifically, this group seeks applications of granular computing, soft computing, optimization algorithms, Classification techniques and DSS to solve complex software engineering problems. Within this dimension, another peculiar focus is to design novel and effective intelligent methodologies e.g. developing Fuzzy extensions of deterministic decision support algorithms, devising hybrid/integrated decision models and developing extended meta-heuristics optimization techniques. Dr. Khubaib is a member of IEEE Technical councils on Software Engineering (TCSE). Business Information systems (TCBIS), ACM SIGSOFT and International Society on MCDM. He has also served as an evaluator for numerous SCI/SCI-E indexed journals and international conferences.
