Introduction

Dr. Muhammad Gufran Khan is Professor at the Department of Electrical Engineering, FAST National University of Computer and Emerging Sciences (NUCES), Chiniot-Faisalabad Campus, Pakistan. Dr. Khan is a Senior Member of IEEE and the founding Chair of IEEE Faisalabad Subsection. He possesses professional experience of more than 15 years in academia and industry. After graduating from UET, Lahore, with BS Electrical Engineering (2003), he moved to Sweden to obtain his PhD in Telecommunications (2011) from Blekinge Institute of Technology, Sweden. He worked on modeling and design of UWB based Wireless Personal Area Networks for his PhD research. Before joining NUCES, he worked at Volvo Car Corporation, Sweden as Analysis Engineer where he was involved in hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) simulation and development of real-time embedded systems for in-vehicle networks. His current research interests are in the fields of cyber-physical embedded systems, voice processing, computer vision, deep learning, and embedded AI. He is working on different funded research projects to solve real world problems using AI, IoT and embedded technologies.  His scholarly work has been published in international peer-reviewed journals and conferences. Dr. Khan has extensive experience of teaching graduate and undergraduate students at Blekinge Institute of Technology, Sweden and FAST-NUCES, Pakistan. He has also supervised many graduate students and managed teams of engineers working on different projects. He has won many research grants and awards.
