Delta Research Group

Delta group at the Department of Computer Science, FAST NUCES CFD Campus is dedicated to perform research in the areas of Machine Learning, Computer Vision, Medical Image Processing, Information security, Natural Language, and Distributed Computing.

Goal

Our goal is to create an intersection between various disciplines. Expert faculty having extensive experience in both academia and research are leading the research team according to their area of expertise.

Machine Learning and Computer Vision

In terms of Machine Learning and computer vision, our goal is to encompass research in both theoretical and applied aspects of computational vision, with a focus on motion, and stereo. Natural Language Processing is the technology used to aid computers to understand the human’s natural language.

Natural Language Processing

Natural Language Processing, shortened as NLP, is a branch of artificial intelligence that deals with the interaction between computers and humans using the natural language. Interactive Voice Response (IVR) applications used in call centers to respond to certain users’ requests. Personal assistant applications such as OK Google, Siri, Cortana, and Alexa.

Medical Image Processing

Related to Medical Image Processing, we strive for the development of new methods for image acquisition, processing, and analysis. Automated disease detection and prevention systems are in the main focus of the scope.

Information Security

The information security over the unsecured internet which is one of the most important challenging research areas. Three main techniques for information security are watermarking, cryptography, and steganography. Steganography research is applicable to multiple areas including confidential communication and secret data storing, protection of data alteration, access control system for digital content distribution and media database systems.

Parallel and Distributed Computing

Parallel and Distributed computing for identification of the parallelism in the computationally intensive problems. This identification leads to the design and development of efficient parallel algorithms. The efficiency is usually considered in terms of time, memory, and scalability dimensions.

Swarm Robotics

Swarm robotics system to study the behaviour of homogeneous and heterogeneous swarms in dynamic environment including static and dynamic obstacles. The proposed research plan includes swarm communication, swarm formation, task allocation strategies, motion planning, and energy management schemes of robotic swarms during task accomplishment by using Husarion ROSbot 2.0. However, the application for these swarms includes object detection and recognition, area coverage, motion planning, search and rescue, disaster management and surveillance systems. Currently we have availability of ground and aerial robots at campus which are being used by graduate and undergrad students.
